Bio-treatability Studies

Service Description: The ABS Bio-Treatability Studies service is designed to qualify and quantify the ability of microbes and/or biological processes to biodegrade individual chemicals, waste streams or contaminated vapors or soils.

Features: Unlike other Bio-Treatability Studies, ABS offers the ability to evaluate and compare the biodegradation capabilities of the indigenous (your) biomass with exogenous (off-the-shelf) formulations of microbes or specific specialized microbes (such as White Rot Fungus) or with/without nutrient stimulation. The ABS Bio-Treatability Study results in identifying, determining and quantifying:

  • Toxicity
  • Biodegradability
  • Compares indigenous/exogenous & nutrient stimulation
  • The ability to test specific, specialized microbes
  • Solutions to degrading recalcitrant or chloro-organics

Benefits: The Bio-Treatability Service can provide a tool for evaluating the suitability of biological treatment for new production processes or result in improving removal efficiencies, capacity and avoiding potential NPDES permit violations of existing systems or processes. The ABS Bio-Treatability Service has many benefits:

1) Identifies toxicants or inhibitors.

2) Determines biodegradability.

3) Evaluates the full range of biotreatment options

4) Provides solutions to recalcitrant treatment problems.
